In the late 70's, after many public accidents in the USA, a small group of men recognized the need for a special training course for people who worked around moving water or even in flood waters. This new rescue discipline was christened “Swiftwaterrescue” a term covering all moving water and flood rescue situations.
Water obeys the same physical laws regardless of whether it is in a river, a flood control channel or a waterfall. Our instructors work in and around moving water and have specialized in understanding the sometimes very complex hydrodynamic forms found in swiftwater. Through year long experience in whitewater with just one look often our instructors can judge whether the current is too swift or the water too deep for each type of rescue available.
